    Leading Dermatologist Reveals 3 Key Strategies for Hydrating Dry Skin This Winter

    New York, NY – Dr. Shereene Idriss, a board-certified dermatologist and founder of Dr. Idriss, recently shared three crucial tips for individuals experiencing dry, tight skin, especially during colder months. The advice, disseminated through a popular social media platform, aims to help maintain skin hydration and barrier health. Dr. Idriss emphasized the importance of a modified cleansing routine. "Stop washing your face twice a day with a cleanser," she stated, advising viewers to use a cleanser only in the evening and skip it in the morning. She explained that over-cleansing, particularly as the air becomes drier, can strip the skin, leading to further dryness and irritation. When selecting a cleanser, Dr. Idriss recommended opting for gentle formulations containing ingredients such as ceramides and glycerin, which help retain skin hydration. In addition to cleansing adjustments, Dr. Idriss introduced a do-it-yourself solution for on-the-go hydration. She instructed viewers to create a glycerin hydrating mist by mixing 100% pure glycerin with water in a 1:4 ratio. This diluted solution can then be transferred to a portable mister for application throughout the day, providing a quick boost of moisture. For those seeking a more passive approach to hydration, Dr. Idriss suggested incorporating a humidifier into their daily routine. She recommended placing a humidifier near a desk or bedside table to continuously add moisture to the surrounding air. "It will add much needed moisture back into the air and back into your plump, dewy skin," Dr. Idriss noted, highlighting its benefit for maintaining skin health without constant effort. These tips collectively offer practical strategies for managing dry skin effectively.
