Liverpool Car-Ramming: 53-Year-Old Man Faces Multiple Charges A 53-year-old man, Paul Doyle, has been charged with multiple offenses after driving a car into a crowd celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League victory on Monday, injuring 79 people. The incident took place on Water Street in Liverpool. Merseyside Police confirmed the charges, which include dangerous driving and several counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Sarah Hammond, Chief Crown Prosecutor, stated, “The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorised Merseyside Police to charge Paul Doyle… with offences of dangerous driving, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.” Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims of Merseyside Police added details about the charges, explaining they are “contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861,” and that Doyle also faces a charge of dangerous driving. The investigation is ongoing, with police reviewing a large amount of evidence, including video footage and witness statements. The investigation is in its early stages but authorities are working to ensure all victims receive justice. Doyle will appear before Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Friday, May 30th, 2025.
