Madrid Book Fair: Securing a Booth Amidst the Heat
Madrid Book Fair: Insights from Librería La Fabulosa The Madrid Book Fair is in full swing, and this year, securing a booth has been more competitive than ever. We spoke with Alina from Librería La Fabulosa, a bookstore participating in the event, to gain insights into the process. "To get a booth, you have to meet certain requirements, like being a member of the association and having a bookstore open in Madrid," Alina explains. The process involves filling out an application and paying fees. Booth assignments are determined by a public lottery, a three-hour event Alina describes as "like the Christmas lottery." The location of the booth also plays a significant role. "The extreme heat discourages buyers, no matter where you are," Alina notes, adding that Librería La Fabulosa has awnings to help mitigate the heat. Despite the challenges, Alina remains positive. "We have 19 author signings this year," she says, highlighting the bookstore's participation. The fair is a testament to the resilience and passion of book lovers and the booksellers who serve them. The event continues to be a vibrant hub for literary enthusiasts.
