Major Prisoner Exchange Between Russia and Ukraine Planned for Early June
The anticipated exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine is set to begin between June 7th and 9th, according to Vladimir Medinsky, a member of the Russian negotiating team. This exchange is expected to involve approximately 1200 prisoners from each side, marking one of the largest such exchanges in the conflict. Medinsky stated, "We are fully prepared to begin this process." In addition to the prisoner exchange, Russia has also agreed to the repatriation of over 6000 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers who perished during the conflict. This development signals a potential step towards de-escalation, though the overall geopolitical situation remains complex and uncertain. The successful execution of this large-scale exchange could represent a significant humanitarian achievement and a potential pathway towards future negotiations.
