Gorani Woman Shares Experience of Marriage and Life in Serbian Village in Kosovo
Jazince, Kosovo – Fidan Uriši, a woman from the Gorani community, shared her experiences after marrying into the Serbian village of Jazince, located in the Sirinićka župa region of Kosovo. Uriši, originally from Ribare, a hamlet near Dragaš, moved to Jazince several years ago to marry Slađan Nikolić. Her story highlights the unique dynamics of inter-community marriages in the region. Upon her arrival in Jazince, Uriši noted the distinct differences from her previous home. "It was a strange village," she recounted, reflecting on her initial observations. "When I arrived, things looked different there, different here." Despite these initial cultural adjustments, Uriši confirmed that she has no regrets about her decision to move. Her new home, Jazince, is also home to approximately 20 other women from her community, suggesting a growing trend of Gorani women marrying into the area. The village itself is situated about 20 kilometers east of Dragaš, near Štrpce.
