A mother of three young children has shared her unconventional decision to downsize her family's living situation, moving into a two-bedroom flat, in a bid to reduce work hours and increase quality family time. The woman, who identifies as '3 kids aged 3 and under' online, explained her rationale in a recent video, detailing how the move has significantly lowered her monthly outgoings to just £559, covering essential bills including mortgage, gas, electricity, and council tax. This financial adjustment has, according to her, freed up disposable income for family experiences, days out, and holidays. She further elaborated on the benefits, stating, 'Currently I can get away with working 16 hours a week and I have more time with my kids.' She emphasized the importance of this flexibility while her children are very young, aged two, four, and five. The family also benefits from a large shared garden and a central location with easy access to shops, restaurants, parks, and schools. She noted that her children, being so young, prefer to be in the same room anyway, making a smaller living space practical. Additionally, a smaller home requires less cleaning, freeing up more of her time. The mother acknowledged that future circumstances might lead to a larger home as her children grow, but for now, she is 'enjoying having more disposable income to spend on holidays and days out and things like that and having to work less hours.'
