The incident occurred in Taman Desa Mircis, U17, Shah Alam, Selangor. The viral video, which circulated on Facebook, prompted a veterinary officer from the Petaling District to file a report with the Sungai Buloh District Police. "We received a report from a Petaling District veterinary officer on Saturday morning," said Sungai Buloh District Police Chief Superintendent Muhammad Hafiz Muhammad Noor. "The complainant had seen the viral video showing the act of cruelty." The video, lasting approximately five minutes, clearly showed the man's actions. Following a preliminary investigation, the case was referred to PERHILITAN and the Veterinary Services Department. Superintendent Noor added that PERHILITAN also filed a separate report on the arrest, citing Section 86 of the Wildlife Conservation Act, which carries penalties of fines and imprisonment. This incident highlights the importance of animal welfare and the consequences of animal cruelty. The swift action taken by authorities sends a strong message that such acts will not be tolerated.
