
ASEAN25 Summit Spotlights Need for Agile Women Leaders in Tech
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – May 25, 2025 – The ASEAN25 Summit 2025 hosted a panel discussion highlighting the challenges and opportunities for women in leadership roles within the rapidly evolving technological landscape of Southeast Asia. Ng Wei Wei, CEO of UOB Malaysia, stressed the critical need for female leaders to cultivate agility and a willingness to adapt. "In today's world, driven by technology and innovation, simply having good intentions, passion, and energy isn't enough," Wei Wei stated. She emphasized the importance of continuous learning and re-learning, even when stepping outside of one's comfort zone. The summit, moderated by Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, brought together women leaders from diverse sectors to discuss challenges and opportunities for building a more inclusive and sustainable economy. UOB Malaysia also shared their initiatives supporting women entrepreneurs through programs like the UOB FitLab, which has assisted over 1200 women entrepreneurs in Malaysia and Singapore to master digital literacy. The event underscores a growing recognition of the importance of women's leadership in shaping the future of ASEAN.
