
Largest Prisoner Exchange in Russia-Ukraine Conflict Completed
The largest prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine since the start of the conflict has been completed. On Sunday, May 25th, 2025, 303 prisoners of war were exchanged, marking a significant development in the ongoing conflict. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 303 Russian soldiers returned from Kyiv-controlled territories. President Zelenskyy announced the exchange on the X platform, stating, "303 Ukrainian defenders are home. The third part of the 1000-for-1000 exchange deal, agreed upon in Türkiye, has been completed." The exchange included Ukrainian soldiers, national guard, border guard service, and special transport service members. Russian prisoners were sent to Belarus for rehabilitation. This exchange follows previous exchanges of 270 military personnel and 120 civilians on Friday, May 23, and 307 military personnel on Saturday, May 24. This is the 65th prisoner exchange since the conflict began in 2022, highlighting the ongoing efforts toward peace.
