Hamidi Orders Completion of Stalled Sarawak Projects by RMK13
Five Sarawak Projects Ordered for Completion Under RMK13 KUCHING, SARAWAK – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has issued a directive to expedite the completion of five stalled development projects in Sarawak. These projects, which fall under the purview of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), were originally slated for completion under the 11th and 12th Malaysia Plans (RMK11 and RMK12). The decision comes as part of a broader effort to address development challenges in the region. "These projects, including crucial healthcare initiatives, must be finalized during RMK13," Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated following a ministry briefing in Kuching. He emphasized the importance of addressing the delays, citing various constraints that have hampered progress. The RMK13 plan, which begins next year, will provide the opportunity to finally complete these long-delayed projects. The report also highlights that Sarawak received RM32 billion under RMK12 for 403 programs and projects. Despite this substantial investment, 178 projects remain in the pre-implementation phase. The government aims to resolve this backlog by the end of 2025, ensuring that these projects contribute to Sarawak's development and improve the lives of its citizens.
