UN Condemns Gaza Killings, Demands Independent Probe Amidst Humanitarian Crisis
Gaza Crisis: UN Condemns Palestinian Deaths, Calls for Investigation The United Nations is expressing deep concern over the deaths of Palestinians in Gaza while seeking humanitarian aid. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned the reported killings, stating, "It is unacceptable that Palestinians are risking their lives for food." He called for an immediate and independent investigation into the incidents and for those responsible to be held accountable. UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric added to the urgency, describing a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation. He noted that over 640,000 Gazans, nearly one-third of the population, have been displaced since March 18th. A recent weekend displacement order from Israeli authorities further exacerbated the crisis, affecting over 100,000 people in more than 200 locations. Dujarric emphasized the critical need for unimpeded aid delivery to meet the enormous needs of the people in Gaza. The UN continues to press for a permanent ceasefire to end the ongoing conflict and allow for the safe and effective distribution of aid.
