
Harimau Malaya Bolsters Squad with Four New Heritage Players
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – June 4, 2025 – The Malaysian national football team, Harimau Malaya, has received a significant boost ahead of their upcoming Asian Cup qualifier against Vietnam. Four new heritage players have been added to the squad, strengthening their chances in the crucial match. The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) announced the additions on Wednesday. These players include Rodrigo Olmedo from Colombia, John Irazova from Azerbaijan, Manuel Machuca from Argentina, and Jual Figueredo from Turkey. "The addition of these four players is a significant step towards realizing the dreams of all Malaysians," said FAM in a statement. The players have already begun training with the team and have shown promising performance. The inclusion of these players brings the total number of heritage players in the squad to seven, a considerable increase from the previous three. The match against Vietnam is set for June 10th at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
