Sabah's UMS & JANS Team Up to Solve Water Crisis
UMS and JANS Enhance Coordination to Stabilize Water Supply in Sabah Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia – Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and the Sabah State Water Department (JANS) have joined forces to tackle water supply issues on campus. Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya announced a significant step towards improved water stability. "Both parties agreed to enhance coordination from technical and communication aspects, including pump system operation and monitoring water flow to the main R13 tank," he stated. The collaboration involves replacing older water level indicators at the R13 tank with more efficient digital ones. This upgrade aims to provide real-time monitoring and faster responses to potential issues. Although past disruptions have occurred, officials are confident that these improvements will lead to a consistently stable water supply. The ongoing Telisibong Phase 2 project is also expected to further enhance water stability. Once completed in early July, the project is anticipated to significantly improve the water infrastructure, ensuring a reliable supply for UMS and the surrounding community. The enhanced collaboration between UMS and JANS demonstrates a commitment to addressing critical infrastructure challenges and improving the quality of life for students and staff.
