

High Court Adjourns Trial of Man Accused of Killing Parents
High Court Postpones Trial in Double Homicide Case Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – The Kuala Lumpur High Court today adjourned the trial of Afendi Muhammad Agus, a 44-year-old unemployed man, charged with the murders of his parents. The killings occurred on December 9, 2023, in Kampung Sungai Penchala. Deputy Public Prosecutor Izalina Abdullah presented several pieces of evidence to the court, including autopsy reports for both victims and a psychiatric report on the accused. "The court has adjourned the case to allow for further investigation," stated a court official. Afendi had previously pleaded guilty. However, a mental health evaluation, ordered by the court on November 27th of last year and completed on February 7th, 2025, determined that he did not suffer from any mental illness. This evaluation was crucial in determining the validity of his previous plea. The case will resume on June 18th. Afendi faces charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a mandatory death sentence or imprisonment of not less than 30 years and not more than 40 years, along with whipping of not less than 12 strokes. The incident occurred at the victims' home in Kampung Sungai Penchala between 7:10 PM and 7:30 PM on the night of the crime.
