Metro Mashaer: Streamlining Hajj Transportation
Millions of Muslims embark on the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. This year, a new transportation system is playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe movement of pilgrims. The Metro Mashaer train system, connecting the holy sites of Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina, is expected to transport over two million pilgrims during the Hajj season. "Despite operating during the peak season, thorough preparations have been undertaken since the beginning of the year," said Khalid Al-Farhan, spokesperson for the Saudi Railways Organization. Over 12,000 test runs were conducted to ensure the system's readiness. Each train can carry up to 3,000 passengers, with a capacity exceeding 72,000 passengers per hour. This efficient system not only reduces congestion but also promotes environmentally friendly transportation. The Metro Mashaer is considered one of the most advanced Hajj transportation systems globally, reflecting Saudi Arabia's commitment to the well-being of pilgrims worldwide.
