
Container Ship Explosion off Kerala: Four Crew Missing, One Injured
A container ship explosion off the coast of Kerala, India, has left four crew members missing and one seriously injured. The incident occurred on Monday, June 9, 2025, involving the Singapore-registered MV Wan Hai 503. According to a spokesperson for the Coast Guard, "We received a distress signal early Monday morning." Search and rescue teams have been deployed, and 18 of the 22 crew members have been rescued. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation. The 270-meter-long vessel departed Colombo on June 7th and was scheduled to arrive in Mumbai on Monday. The nationalities of the missing crew include two from Taiwan, one from Indonesia, and one from Myanmar. The Coast Guard is working diligently to locate the missing crew members.
