Five UPSI Students Killed in Bus Crash Laid to Rest A tragic bus accident near Gerik, Perak, claimed the lives of five University of Sultan Idris (UPSI) students on June 9, 2025. Three more students were laid to rest on Monday morning, June 10, 2025, in a ceremony attended by family, friends, and local dignitaries, including Dato' Dr. Azman Ibrahim, chairman of the Perak State Agriculture and Food Security Committee. "About 100 family members, friends, and villagers came to pay their respects," reported a local news source. The accident occurred between 12:30 AM and 1:00 AM on June 9th, when a bus carrying UPSI students from Gerik to Tanjung Malim was involved in a collision with an Alza vehicle near Tasik Banding. The accident resulted in 15 fatalities and 33 injuries. The funerals took place at several different locations, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of the students.
