APEC to Launch New Roadmap for Regional Economic Growth
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum is set to unveil a new strategic roadmap in October. This roadmap will replace the existing Cebu Action Plan, focusing on key areas such as regional collaboration, technological advancement, and support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Malaysian Deputy Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, recently emphasized the vital role of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in shaping this five-year plan. "The new roadmap will outline initiatives and achievable goals under the FMP (Finance Ministers' Process)," said Datuk Seri Ahmad. "It aims to advance the Putrajaya Vision for an open, dynamic, resilient, and secure Asia-Pacific community." Datuk Seri Ahmad also stressed the importance of consistent and mutually supportive initiatives between ASEAN and APEC, ensuring that shared priorities in Southeast Asia are effectively implemented. The new roadmap will also explore how technological advancements and new business models can improve financing for MSMEs, ensuring better services for under-served businesses. This collaborative effort between APEC and ASEAN underscores a commitment to regional economic growth and stability.
