Dog on a Bike Lands Owner a $376 Fine
Queensland Police Stop Motorcyclist for Unrestrained Dog A recent incident in Alexandra Headland, Queensland, has highlighted the importance of responsible pet transportation. A 35-year-old woman was stopped by police for riding her motorcycle with her large dog unrestrained, only using a harness she purchased online from Temu. The police officer stated, "You know you can't ride with a dog on the bike." The woman claimed she was unaware this was against the law. Senior Sergeant Shane Panho of the Queensland Police commented on the potential dangers of such practices, mentioning the risk of losing control of the motorcycle due to the dog's reaction. He emphasized the importance of following traffic laws and ensuring pet safety. Ben Newman from the RSPCA added, "We're obviously a big advocate of giving your animals the best life you can, but you just need to be conscious of maybe some of the risks around some of these products." The incident serves as a reminder to pet owners to always transport their animals safely and legally, whether by car or motorcycle. The woman received a $376 fine for the violation.
