Sydney Gang's Brutal Extortion Plot: Queensland Couple Held Hostage
Sydney Gang's Queensland Extortion Plot: Four Arrested, Millions at Stake A shocking crime has unfolded on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, involving an alleged extortion plot by a Sydney-based criminal gang. Four men have been arrested and charged with kidnapping and extortion after allegedly holding a local couple against their will and threatening them with violence. Police Detective Inspector Chris Toohey stated, "They have held two people and attempted to extort financial gains from them." The couple was allegedly threatened with having their fingers cut off. The incident came to light when concerned relatives alerted authorities. While five suspects initially fled, all were eventually apprehended and charged. Mahmoud Abbas, the defense lawyer for one of the accused, claims the charges are exaggerated and that there are "significant deficiencies in the crown case." The incident has prompted the formation of a new Sunshine Coast gang squad to combat organized crime. Two of the accused were granted bail, while a seventh suspect remains in New South Wales awaiting extradition.
