Nine individuals were found guilty on various charges related to the incident, receiving sentences ranging from seven to twenty-three years imprisonment. The most severe sentence, twenty-three years, was given to Abzal Shynasyl for his role in the crime. Other sentences included fifteen years for Azamat Tokhtobaev, nine years for Nurkhyia Ilyasov, and seven years for four other defendants. The verdict has been met with mixed reactions. While the court deemed the evidence sufficient for conviction, the victim's family, particularly Sherzat's father Erkin Kaliakhmet, expressed their dissatisfaction with the sentences, stating they felt the punishments were not harsh enough given the circumstances.
