Dietitian Challenges Body Shaming at Disney Parks
In a recent viral video, dietitian Abbey Sharp addressed the ongoing conversation around body image and food choices at theme parks, specifically reacting to a clip from "Plus Size Park Hoppers" at Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival. The original video featured individuals enjoying a variety of foods. Sharp emphasized that a trip to Disney World is often a significant, once-in-a-lifetime event for many families, and the food consumed during such a vacation should not be scrutinized as part of an everyday diet. "Honestly, it looks like a bunch of people enjoying themselves at Disney and trying all of the fun foods on offer," Sharp stated. She urged viewers to "normalize letting people have fun on their holidays without ridicule or judgement," adding, "because Lord knows they paid way too much to be there." Her message advocates for body neutrality and enjoyment of experiences, free from external judgment about food choices on special occasions.
