Severe Storms Hit Illinois, Causing Widespread Damage
Severe Storms Pummel McHenry and Lake Counties, More Rain Expected Illinois residents in McHenry and Lake Counties faced the brunt of severe thunderstorms Tuesday evening, June 3rd, 2025. The storms brought down numerous trees and power lines, causing significant damage across the region. Dramatic footage shows large trees uprooted and fallen onto cars, and power lines brought down by high winds. The heavy rainfall also led to hazardous driving conditions. "Another damaging line came through earlier today, bringing down massive trees and power lines in McHenry County," reported Cheryl Burton of ABC7 Chicago. Meteorologist Larry Mowry added that while the line of storms had weakened as it moved east, pockets of rain and some thunder would continue overnight and into the morning commute. He also predicted significantly cooler temperatures for Wednesday. Despite the damage, crews were quickly on the scene to address the power outages and clear debris from the roads, minimizing the disruption to the community. The forecast predicts showers and some thunder through the morning, but no severe weather is expected.
