Chicago Gamers Camp Out for Nintendo Switch 2 Launch
The highly anticipated launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 created a buzz among Chicago gamers. Lines began forming outside electronics stores as early as midnight on June 5th, 2025. ABC 7 Eyewitness News captured the excitement, interviewing several fans who had been waiting for hours. One gamer, who had been waiting since midnight, said, "I just really want to play Donkey Kong." Another, who had waited 10 hours, stated that it was "worth it." The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts improved graphics, a sharper screen, and an in-game chat feature. It also launches with Mario Kart World, which now features 24-player races. The $450 price tag didn't deter these dedicated fans, highlighting the significant demand for the new console, eight years after the last Nintendo console release. Nintendo expects to sell 15 million units this year alone.
