Climber Missing in Peruvian Andes: Massive Search Underway
Search teams are desperately searching for Edson Vendeira, a 36-year-old experienced climber who went missing in the Peruvian Andes over a week ago. His ex-wife, Natalia, described him as a meticulous planner and passionate climber, who documented his adventures on social media. "He's always been passionate about reaching the highest heights," she said, adding that he was undertaking this climb as training to become a certified high mountain guide. Search and rescue efforts are extensive, utilizing drones and a government helicopter. However, the challenging terrain and discovery of avalanche signs complicate the search. Natalia and others are monitoring the search from Minnesota and raising funds for the operation. Despite the difficulties, Natalia remains hopeful, stating, "I don't want to lose my hope, but it's also...it's just hard."
