Thousands March in Chicago Against ICE, Near Miss with Car Highlights Tensions
Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Chicago on Tuesday evening, June 11, 2025, in a demonstration against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The protest, which began at Federal Plaza around 5:30 PM, caused major traffic disruptions for several hours. ABC 7 Eyewitness News reporter Tre Ward, who was on the scene, described the event as "mostly peaceful" but noted a near-collision between a car and a large group of protesters near Wabash and Monroe. "A driver almost hit the crowds," Ward reported. Police responded quickly, and no injuries were reported. One protester, who declined to be identified, expressed their frustration with ICE's actions, stating, "What does that America stand for? That they're willing to... you know, Marines against Americans just to practice their first amendment." The protest continued peacefully under police supervision, highlighting the ongoing debate surrounding immigration policy in the United States.
