Fifth Fugitive Nabbed in New Orleans Jailbreak; Inside Job Suspected
New Orleans Jailbreak: Fifth Fugitive Captured as Inside Job Investigation Expands A major development has unfolded in the ongoing investigation into the New Orleans jailbreak that occurred on Friday, May 21st. Authorities have captured a fifth fugitive, bringing the total number of apprehended escapees to five. However, five inmates remain at large, including a convicted killer and two individuals charged with second-degree murder. The capture comes as the investigation expands to include a possible inside job. A fourth jail employee has been suspended, and according to court documents, Sterling Williams, a suspended jail employee, has been booked into jail. Williams confessed to investigators that he turned off the water to a toilet to allow inmates to escape through a hole in the wall. He claims he acted out of fear after one of the inmates threatened him. Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams stated, "Ten violent offenders don't make their escape through concrete, rebar, and barbed wire without there being some sort of inside assistance." The investigation continues, and authorities are working diligently to apprehend the remaining fugitives. Meanwhile, new surveillance video has emerged showing three of the fugitives in an alley an hour after the escape. One of the remaining fugitives is Derek Groves, a convicted killer. The incident has raised serious questions about security protocols at the Orleans Parish jail.
