4-Year-Old Faces Deportation, Doctors Warn of Imminent Death
Four-year-old Sofia's fight for life in the US faces a new threat: deportation. The young girl, who has a rare condition requiring specialized medical treatment only available in the US, is facing imminent deportation. Her family's lawyers say she could die within days if forced to return to Mexico. The Trump administration terminated their humanitarian parole in April, without explanation, ordering them to leave the country. "The notice said, 'Do not attempt to remain in the United States; the federal government will find you. Please depart the United States immediately,'" reported Armando Garcia of ABC News. Sofia's condition prevents her from absorbing nutrients normally, requiring 14 hours of daily IV treatment. Garcia points out this is part of a broader pattern of people having their parole revoked. While DHS states the family is not actively being deported and their petition is under consideration, the lack of explanation for the parole revocation and the urgency of Sofia's medical needs raise serious concerns.
