Drone Guides Rescuers to Flood-Stranded Family and Six Dogs
In a dramatic rescue during the devastating NSW floods, a couple and their six dogs were saved from their flooded property near Kempsey thanks to the quick thinking of Fire and Rescue NSW. The team used a drone as a 'beacon' to guide their boat through the floodwaters at night, eventually finding the family clinging to a makeshift bamboo raft. "It was great to see them paddle around the bend and sing out to us," said Troy Irwin, one of those rescued. The innovative use of the drone and the rescuers' resourcefulness in using the bamboo raft highlight the extraordinary efforts made during this natural disaster. The successful rescue is a testament to the bravery and dedication of the emergency services and offers a positive story amidst the widespread devastation caused by the floods.
