Riley Green Didn’t Plan on Ella Langley Being Part of Their Smash-Hit Duet—and …
Country singer Riley Green reveals that we very nearly missed having Ella Langley on the platinum collab "Don't Mind If I Do."
Country music sensation Riley Green recently sat down with Absolute Radio Country's Baylen Leonard to discuss his musical collaborations with Ella Langley and the ongoing speculation regarding their relationship status. Green addressed the persistent dating rumors, noting that he finds it entertaining to discover who the internet believes he is dating on any given day. "I don't have to do anything to entertain it, it's gonna happen," Green stated, referring to the rumors. He added, "I jokingly said that I'll wake up and get on the internet and find out who I'm dating that day, they'll tell you." The artist explained that fans often desire the emotional connection between performers to be real, drawing parallels to legendary country duos like Johnny Cash and June Carter, or Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. "As a country music fan, they kind of want everything to be true," Green remarked. "You want to hear a song and think that's exactly how it happened." He recounted the origin of their first duet, 'You Look Like You Love Me,' telling Langley at the time that there would be considerable speculation. Green also shared an anecdote about their second collaboration, 'Don't Mind If I Do,' which he described as "accidental." He revealed that he had initially written the song as a duet and was seeking a female vocalist. After a planned singer was unavailable, he contacted Ella Langley, who "showed up in her pajamas and sang it, and it was, that's what you hear on the record." Green highlighted the profound experience of hearing fans sing 'You Look Like You Love Me' in a different country, calling it an "eye-opening thing" that indicated the song's potential to be a significant hit.
