Mexico City's New Trolleybus: A Modern Marvel with a Minor Hiccup
Mexico City's New Elevated Trolleybus Line: A Smooth Ride with a Few Hiccups Mexico City recently launched a new elevated trolleybus line connecting Santa Martha Acatitla and Chalco, Estado de Mexico, offering a modern and efficient transportation solution. The 18.5-kilometer route boasts 102 electric buses, each capable of carrying 142 passengers. However, only nine of the planned fifteen stations are currently operational. "The service runs from Monday to Saturday, from 4:30 AM to 12:30 AM, and on Sundays and holidays from 5 AM to 11 PM," explains the ADN40 reporter in the video. The reporter also highlights the bus's amenities, including Wi-Fi, security cameras, and designated areas for women and passengers with disabilities. The fare varies depending on the route, ranging from 7 pesos for journeys within Mexico City to 20 pesos for the full trip. While the new line offers a convenient and efficient mode of transportation, the reporter also points out a minor issue: "In one of the buses, where a fire extinguisher should be, there was nothing." This observation underscores the need for continuous maintenance and safety checks. Despite this minor drawback, the new trolleybus line represents a significant step forward for Mexico City's public transportation system, providing a more comfortable and efficient way to travel between Santa Martha Acatitla and Chalco.
