IPN Student Sentenced for Non-Consensual Intimate Images
Mexico City, Mexico – A former student of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), Diego "N," has been sentenced to five years in prison for the creation and distribution of non-consensual intimate images of female students and minors. The judge also levied a fine of 103,740 pesos. This sentencing comes after a previous acquittal in December 2024, where a magistrate deemed insufficient evidence to prove his guilt. The current conviction is based on the testimony of two of the eight victims who came forward. "This sentence could set a powerful precedent in addressing digital violence against women," stated a legal expert. The case highlights the ongoing challenges in prosecuting such crimes and the importance of continued advocacy for victims.
