Child Spent 30,000 Rubles on a Game? Lawyer Explains How to Get Your Money Back
In-app purchases by children: a lawyer explains how to return money and protect yourself. A common problem for parents is when their child makes unauthorized purchases in mobile games. Recently, a resident of Minsk faced this situation. "My child downloaded a free game, and 30,000 rubles disappeared from my card the next day," the parent said. Lawyer Roman Podlesnykh explains that in-game purchases are legal, but minors under 14 need parental consent. If consent is missing, the transaction is void. Podlesnykh advises contacting the app store's support and providing proof of the child's age. If support refuses a refund, write a claim and, if necessary, file a lawsuit. The lawyer also recommends enabling parental controls and unlinking payment cards from children's devices.
