Belgrade, Serbia – A recent podcast interview with musician Dino Šaran has shed new light on the origins of his band Štuke's hit song, "Mjesto za dvoje." During the discussion, Šaran revealed that the beloved track, which has become a staple at weddings and continues to resonate with fans, was initially offered to other prominent artists before finding its home with Štuke. Šaran explained that he first presented "Mjesto za dvoje" to the band Crvena Jabuka. However, they were reportedly preoccupied with their own new album at the time, leading them to pass on the song. Subsequently, Šaran offered the track to Žera, who, according to Šaran, misinterpreted the lyrics. "He thought the text had a political connotation, even though it's a love song," Šaran stated in the interview. Due to this misunderstanding, Žera declined to record the song. Despite these initial rejections, "Mjesto za dvoje" went on to become a massive success for Štuke, solidifying its place as a timeless hit. Šaran noted its enduring popularity, saying, "People get married to these songs, they call me asking if I can play a short clip for them." This revelation offers a fascinating glimpse into the unpredictable journey of a song from its creation to becoming a cultural phenomenon.
