Creator Calls Out Misguided Concern Over Appearance in Online Comments
In a recent video, content creator Ashleigh, known as "Aisle Tell You What," addressed a prevalent issue within online communities: the tendency for viewers to make assumptions about creators' personal lives based on their appearance. Speaking directly to her audience, Ashleigh highlighted how marks or conditions on a person's face are often misconstrued as signs of abuse or injury, rather than natural occurrences like birthmarks or eczema. "Why is it that clearly the majority of people on here assume that if they see something on your face, it means that you are automatically being [abused]?" she questioned. She expressed frustration that many creators now feel compelled to add disclaimers to their videos to pre-empt such comments. Ashleigh emphasized that these comments, such as "Are you okay?" or "Who's hitting you?", often stem from a desire to be "messy" rather than genuine concern. She urged viewers to "just stop assuming the worst," stating, "Not every single thing is the worst thing."
