Preparations for Madaraka Day celebrations are underway in Kisumu, Kenya, with a three-day event planned at the renovated Raila Odinga Stadium. According to a press conference held on May 15th, the event will feature participation from local communities and various government and non-governmental agencies. "We are ready to host the Madaraka Day celebrations," stated a speaker at the press conference, highlighting the significant improvements made to the stadium. The stadium, originally a project of the county government, has undergone significant upgrades through the Ministry of Sports, increasing its capacity to 12,000. The event will be opened by the Deputy President and closed by the President, with the Prime Minister presiding on the second day. The completion of roadworks by Kura and Kena is expected early next week, ensuring smooth access for Madaraka Day.
