Gaza Airstrike Kills Nine Children of Pediatrician
A tragic incident unfolded in Khan Younis, Gaza, on May 24, 2025, when an Israeli airstrike targeted the home of Dr. Alaa al-Najjar, a pediatrician. The attack resulted in the deaths of nine of her ten children, while she was at work. Her husband and only surviving son, Adam, sustained critical injuries. Ali al-Najjar, Hamdi's brother, described the scene: "One of the civil defense workers was handing me one of the bodies. She recognized it and said, 'This is Rival, give her to me.' Look at her instinct as a mother, as if her daughter were still alive." Adam is currently receiving treatment in the ICU. Samah al-Najjar, Dr. Alaa's niece, recounted the names of the deceased children: Yahya, Sidra, Luqman, Sadin, Rival, and Gibran. The Israeli military stated that they are 'reviewing' the attack. This incident highlights the devastating human cost of the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
