Palestinian Leader Calls for Dismantling of Israeli Government Amid Settlement Expansion
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to escalate, with tensions rising over the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. Abbas Milhem, executive director of the Palestinian Farmers’ Union, has issued a strong condemnation of the current Israeli government, calling for its dismantling. In a recent video interview, Milhem stated, “Not only settlements should be dismantled, but I think this [Israeli] government should be dismantled.” He argues that only through sanctions and accountability can Israel be pressured to reverse its settlement expansion policy. Milhem's comments reflect the growing frustration among Palestinians over the lack of progress towards a two-state solution. He believes that the current government has destroyed all possibilities for peace and that a new government that believes in peace is essential. While the situation remains tense, Milhem's call for international action and a change in leadership offers a glimmer of hope for a future where peace can prevail. He further added, "And if we see peace as a solution, it should be accompanied by strong international actions and punishment and sanctions against the government that support settlement and do not believe in peace."
