Ukraine Streamlines Military Medical Exams for Reservists
Ukraine Updates Military Medical Examination Process for Partially Fit Reservists Kiev, Ukraine – June 3, 2025 – The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has announced an update to the medical examination process for reservists previously deemed partially fit for military service. Dmytro Lazutkin, spokesperson for the Ministry, stated in a recent video that all partially fit individuals who were assessed before May 4, 2024, must undergo a second medical examination (VLK) by June 5th. Lazutkin clarified the results of these re-examinations, stating, "Approximately 7% of those who have undergone the repeat VLK have been recognized as unfit." He also noted that "around 6-7% are fully fit for duty." Those not fully fit are being assigned to support roles within the military. To ease the process, Lazutkin highlighted the use of the 'Reserve Plus' application, allowing individuals to obtain electronic directions to medical facilities for their examinations. This aims to reduce wait times and streamline the process. He emphasized the convenience of this digital approach, stating, "This method is designed to be as accessible and convenient as possible, eliminating the need for lengthy queues at military enlistment offices." The Ministry of Defense's initiative demonstrates a commitment to ensuring efficient and accessible medical assessments for reservists, supporting the ongoing defense efforts of the nation.
