Airport Taxi Fare Hike Stirs Outrage in Lima
Taxi fares from Lima's new Jorge Chávez airport soar, leaving passengers outraged. The inauguration of the new terminal at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, Peru has brought unexpected problems for travelers. Passengers are reporting exorbitant taxi fares, with some paying up to S/130 for journeys that previously cost significantly less. "They've raised prices by about 20 percent," said one taxi driver interviewed at the airport. Foreign tourists are also being affected, with two Brazilian tourists interviewed reporting a fare of S/70 to Miraflores. While a public bus service, Aerodirecto, offers an alternative, the high taxi costs remain a major concern for travelers, especially during emergencies. The airport authority needs to address this issue to ensure a smooth and affordable travel experience for all.
