Uneven Walkway: Safety Concerns Raised Over Flawed Lima Tourist Corridor
Concerns arise over structural defects in the unfinished Miraflores-Barranco tourist corridor in Lima, Peru. A recent report by América Noticias reveals significant unevenness in the walkway's platforms, with at least two noticeable level discrepancies. One area is covered by a cover plate that appears twisted due to the unevenness. Ing. Néstor Huamán, a civil engineer from UNI, expressed concerns about the structural integrity of the project, stating, "There must be coincidence; they must be at the same level." He further explained that the gaps between the platforms should allow for movement during seismic activity, suggesting a constructive issue rather than a purely structural one. The video footage, combined with the engineer's expert opinion, raises serious questions about the safety and quality of this ongoing public works project. The municipality of Miraflores has yet to issue an official statement addressing these concerns.
