
Elephant raids Thai grocery store, calmly enjoys snacks before departing
A hungry elephant caused havoc in a grocery store in Pak Chong, Thailand on Monday. The elephant, which wandered in from a nearby park, helped itself to the produce on the shelves. It calmly chomped down about nine bags of sweet rice crackers, a sandwich and bananas, the store owner said. "It was quite a sight," said the store owner, Kanokporn Sriboon. "I've never seen anything like it before." The elephant eventually left the store without causing any major damage. Wildlife officials were called to the scene but the elephant had already left by the time they arrived.
