Oscar Maydon Shares His Unlikely Journey from Small Town to Music Stardom on "La Oficial Radio"
In a recent interview on Apple Music's "La Oficial Radio," rising artist Oscar Maydon sat down with Evelyn Sicairos to discuss his new album, "Rico o Muerto Vol. 1," and his remarkable journey into the music industry. Maydon shared candidly about his origins in a small town where opportunities for aspiring musicians were scarce. "In the town I used to live in, I didn't have many opportunities," Maydon stated. "Nobody sang there. Nobody could teach me to play the guitar." He explained that he had to go to "extremes" to pursue his passion, learning the first chords from an older uncle and then turning to YouTube for further instruction after purchasing his own guitar. The artist revealed that a significant turning point came during the pandemic. "I left my town, I went to study in a city two hours away, the pandemic hit, I started creating music, I uploaded it to Instagram, and that's when the folks here called me and I came," he recounted. This marked the beginning of his dream becoming a reality, a possibility he had never imagined while living in a town of only 50,000 people without the support systems available to other emerging artists. Maydon's story highlights his perseverance and the unexpected paths to success in the digital age.
