In a recent viral video, content creator Ashleigh Surratt revealed she coined the popular term "Type C Mom," defining it as a blend of organized "Type A" and relaxed "Type B" parenting styles. Surratt, speaking from her car with her baby, shared her personal experience of feeling like an "anomaly" in the motherhood landscape, meticulously planning some aspects of her life while embracing disarray in others. "I just figured that if Type A are the moms who have the labeled bins and the beautiful snacky packs, and Type B are the moms who let their kids play in the splash pad in their clothes and maybe forgot shoes and their car's a wreck, then maybe A + B = C," Surratt explained. Her candid confession resonated deeply with countless viewers, who flooded her direct messages and comments with expressions of relief and recognition. Many mothers shared their own experiences of feeling torn between perfectionism and practicality, highlighting the guilt associated with not fitting traditional parenting molds. Surratt expressed being "so touched" by the overwhelming response, noting that the concept has "really hit a nerve." To further foster this newfound community, Surratt announced plans to create a "Type C Mom Club" on Facebook and a broadcast channel. She emphasized that the goal is to provide a supportive space where mothers can acknowledge their dual nature—being "really Type A at some things and really Type B at others"—without feeling like a "bad mom" or a "mess." The initiative aims to celebrate the strength in learning "to hold what's important and kind of let go of the things that don't super, super matter."
