León, Guanajuato, Mexico, experienced one of its most intense rainstorms of the year on May 28, 2025. The storm caused widespread flooding, leaving streets submerged and vehicles stranded. One woman found herself in a perilous situation, trapped in her car and forced to grab onto a lamppost to prevent being carried away by the rushing water. "It was terrifying," she recounted. The storm also led to the closure of the Puente Deprimido in Hermanos Aldama due to safety concerns. The flooding affected several major boulevards, including Bulevar Delta, Río Mayo, Timoteo Lozano, Torres Landa, San Pedro, and González Boca Negra. Social media was filled with images of the chaos and the extent of the damage. Despite the disruption, the community showed resilience and support for one another. The event serves as a reminder of the need for better urban planning and preparedness for extreme weather events.
