MINSK, Belarus - Thousands of students faced extensive queues at university dormitories across Minsk this week, as the annual check-in process for the new academic year got underway. A video uploaded on August 27th, depicting a long line of students awaiting entry to a dormitory on August 25th, has garnered significant attention online, with over 1.5 million views. The footage, captured by user 'asssyua', shows students, many with luggage, stretching along the pavement outside a building, reportedly a dormitory for institutions like Belarusian State Technological University (BGTU) and Belarusian State Economic University (BSEU). The video's caption indicated a scheduled check-in time of 4:30 PM, with the queue forming much earlier in the day. Student comments on the video highlighted varying experiences. One student remarked, "Came today, the 27th, no queue at all, checked in in half an hour!" contrasting sharply with others who reported waiting for several hours. "I arrived at 8:30 AM and only checked in at 6:00 PM," shared another user, expressing a common sentiment of frustration over the prolonged waiting times. The situation has sparked discussions among students about the efficiency of the check-in procedures and the challenges of managing such a large-scale annual event.
