Un profesor de autoescuela alerta sobre el peligro de una rotonda de Bizkaia
La glorieta, situada entre los municipios vizcainos de Galdakao y Etxebarri, está generando confusión entre los conductores debido a su diseño
BILBAO, Spain – A local driving instructor, known as Autoescuelas Mikel, has brought to public attention a significant design flaw in a roundabout situated between the municipalities of Galdakao and Etxebarri in Vizcaya. The instructor claims this particular roundabout is a recurring site for accidents and will continue to be so due to its current configuration. According to the instructor, the roundabout is fed by two separate two-lane roads. The primary issue arises from a newly constructed road on the right, which, like the right lane of the main approaching road, directs vehicles into the roundabout's right lane. "We have two users who have to enter the right lane simultaneously," the instructor explained, emphasizing the inherent danger this presents. The instructor proposes a straightforward solution to mitigate the risk of collisions: the installation of a "STOP" sign for vehicles entering from the newly added road on the right. He argues that this would ensure drivers from that entrance yield to existing traffic, thereby preventing the simultaneous entry into the same lane and significantly enhancing safety. "This has already been invented to prevent danger," he stated, referring to established traffic control measures. The call for action comes amidst concerns for road safety in the region.
