MAZ Truck Collapses into Pit During Grodno Roadworks

In Grodno, Belarus, a surprising incident occurred on May 14, 2025, around 2 PM. A MAZ truck unexpectedly plunged into a deep pit during ongoing road construction in the Grandichi microdistrict. The incident took place at the intersection of Asphaltnaya and Sayapina streets, near the "Mayak" store. According to eyewitnesses, the ground unexpectedly gave way as a second MAZ truck approached the excavation site, causing it to tilt and fall into the pit. "The MAZ tipped over and ended up in the hole. Getting it out will be difficult, as the truck is lying on its side; a crane will be needed," reported one eyewitness. Initial reports suggest that soil from the excavation was being loaded into dump trucks. The first truck successfully completed its load, but the ground beneath the second truck collapsed, pulling it into the pit. Despite maintaining a distance of approximately 1.5 meters from the edge, the truck still fell into the pit. The incident highlights potential safety concerns during road construction projects.
