BMW Owners Alert: Timely Oil Changes and Valve Cover Replacements Crucial for Engine Health
Bucharest, Romania – A local BMW service center, AXM Service, has released a public advisory highlighting critical maintenance issues that can lead to significant damage in BMW vehicles. The service emphasizes the importance of timely oil changes and proper valve cover maintenance to ensure engine longevity. According to technicians at AXM Service, a common oversight among BMW owners is neglecting regular oil changes. They demonstrated how an old or improperly changed engine oil can lead to axial play in the turbocharger, resulting in a whistling sound at various engine speeds. "The turbocharger is lubricated by the engine oil," explained a mechanic in the video. "If the oil is old and changed only every 30,000 kilometers, the turbocharger will not be properly lubricated, leading to axial play." The service recommends changing engine oil at a maximum of every 10,000 kilometers to prevent such issues. Furthermore, the video showcased a valve cover from a BMW 5 Series, which was visibly filled with oil due to deformation caused by heating and cooling cycles. The service advises against merely replacing the gasket or using silicone sealant, as silicone fragments can enter the engine's oil sump, leading to improper lubrication and potential engine seizure. "The only real solution is to replace the old cover with a new, original BMW part," the mechanic stated. AXM Service, located at Strada Preciziei 15b in Bucharest, encourages BMW owners experiencing turbo or engine issues to contact them for professional assessment and repair. They offer consultations based on vehicle chassis numbers to provide accurate price quotes and schedule appointments.
