Single Mother Alleges Abduction, Unlawful Detention in Kazakhstan Rehabilitation Center
A single mother from Turkistan, Kazakhstan, has made a harrowing claim of abduction and unlawful detention. According to her video statement, she was forcibly taken from her home on April 25th, 2025, by three unidentified men. She was subsequently held for ten days in a rehabilitation center in Shymkent, where she alleges she was subjected to violence and coerced into signing unknown documents. "They tied my hands and feet repeatedly," she states in the video, her voice trembling. "They beat me and forced me to sign papers." She further claims that minors were also being held illegally at the facility. While the woman filed a police report, she expresses frustration at the lack of progress in the investigation. However, the Shymkent City Police Department asserts that a criminal case has been opened based on her complaint. This incident highlights concerns about the oversight of rehabilitation centers and the protection of vulnerable individuals in Kazakhstan. The ongoing investigation is expected to shed further light on the allegations.
